Next to the 2 popular beaches of southern Crete (Plakias and Souda, Rethimno Prefecture), Korakas beach is the ending for one of the tens valleys of southern mountainous volume of Crete.
The beach belongs to Rodakino village area. Situated some 47 kilometers far from Rethymnon city and 18km of kilometers from Plakias village, the beach of Korakas is a sandy beach, well organised and offers accommodation facilities in hotels and rooms to let, as well as taverns for food and drink. .
Marine passages made on the rock by the nature in itself, creeks and caves, are some of the elements that compose the unexplained charm of that small paradise, with a vast view of the Libyan sea and of Gavdos Island.
There are no facilities available on this 300m long beach (together with the Rodakino beach just next to east) except a newly build Taverna (2007) and the rocky seabed makes it good for snorkeling.
The beach has sand and fine pebbles, while in several places there are rocks.
The church of Ag.Marina is at the east end of the bay and has some Byzantine frescoes (although destroyed to some length). A dirt track leads to this beach from Skaloti village at the west.
