Sport activities (jet skiing, windsurfing, beach tennis, beach volley), food facilities and romantic views on the islet of Agioi Theodori are offered. Numerous shops, restaurants, cafes and bars can be found in this excellent area of Glaros. Glaros Beach is a long sandy beach of 900m in length. The beach is easily accessed from Hanai city. The local flora includes Sea Pine, Oleander, Palms and the rare and protected Sea Lily (Pancratium maritimum) which grows on the sand dunes. Please respect the cordoned off areas in which the plants grow by not entering them. The Municipality of Nea Kydonia organises an annual environmental programme including beach clean ups, recycling and cycling information, and educational workshops on the Sea Turtle (Caretta caretta). The beach has been awarded Blue Flag status.
The original village of Daratso retains a good deal of its traditional charm despite this areas growing popularity.
The beach is a short walk from the older part of Daratso and is called Kalamaki beach. Agii Apostoli beach is another nearby nice popular sandy beach in a fine bay. The closest beache to the town of Chania are these of Agioi Apostoloi. This beach lie on the road from Chania to Kissamos and one can visit it using the bus or a car. Agioi Apostoli beach are 3 sandy coves.
Agioi Apostoli is a well known beach with natural beauty, and many people visits the beach, specially on July and August - as the distance from Chania is only 5 km. On this beach one can find many water sports or relax and enjoy the greek sun in one of the many beach bars. Against the coast of Platanias there is a small island called Agioi Theodoroi. On this island duels the cretan goat also known as "kri-kri", that is why access on the island is forbidden, as it is a national park.
The memorial is situated in the central Galatas square next to the church. This square and the adjusting roads was the scene of a fierce close combat between New Zealand and German alpine troops on the night of 25th May 1941.
