Kyparissos is a village (21 km from Heraklion City and 3km far from Profitis Elias Village), references of which we find in the document of Santa Croce, in a Venetian catalogue of the 13th and 14th centuries. Based on this information, we classify it to the 2nd Byzantine period. The village sits on a hill, over viewing the valley of Diakoniaris, the confluent river of Giofyros (the ancient Triton). The valley is mainly covered with vineyards and olive groves.
