The Peristeras beach is located at a quiet place in east Ierapetra area, southeast Crete. The distance from Ierapetra city is 2km and from Makrigialos 27km. Actualy it is the east end of the big Agios Andreas (Saint Andrew) beach See the map below. This is a secluded area with high cliffs surrounding it. The beach is sandy and has several smooth rocks in places.
The beach can generaly be acceced by the central road Ierapetra - Sitia at any point. The road is only 200m far from the beach.
There is also a second sandy beach in Peristeras, just behind the rocky end of the long beach, that can be accessed by the road. This is very well protected by prying eyes, but there are many rocks.

The Katharades Beach is located in the southern coast of Crete opposite from the island Chrissi where exists the better climate of Mediterranean, It offers pleasant vacations in a beautiful environment, and it abstains 5 km to east from the more southern city of Europe Ierapetra.
The beach is located between the famous Long Beach in Koutsounari and Peristeras Beach to west. The distance is 41km southeast of Agios Nikolaos and 32km west of Makrigialos coastal village.
The region has faced a mild development during the last years, especially due to some big hotels that have been built near the shore. Thus, along the main road linking Ierapetra and Makrygialos there are few restaurants and lodgings.The beach has coarse gray sand and its bottom has large smooth rocks, but there are also places with sand. Around there are several tamarisk trees providing shade, but there are umbrellas as well. The beach is well organized by the hotels and there is a court for beach volley, sunbeds, showers and facilities for water sports.
