Μέρη κοντινά με Άγιος Νικόλαος
Το χωριό Ρογδιά βρίσκεται 16 χιλιόμετρα δυτικά της πόλης του Ηρακλείου, πάνω από τη κοιλάδα του Παλαιοκάστρου σε υψόμετρο 300 μέτρων χαρίζοντας μία υπέροχη θέα της πόλης του Ηρακλείου και του πελάγους.
Οι κάτοικοι του χωριού που σύμφωνα με την απογραφή του 2011 αριθμούν τους 797, ασχολούνται κυρίως με την γεωργία.
Ιστορικά το χωριό αναφέρεται για πρώτη φορά σε έγγραφο του 1248. Εδώ υπήρχαν διάσπαρτες ενετικές επαύλεις, εξυπηρετώντας προφανώς το κοντινό Ενετικό οχυρό του Παλαιοκάστρου, καθώς και το ενετικό μέγαρο των Μοδινών, φεουδαρχών της περιοχής, που σώζεται μέχρι σήμερα.
Savathiana: A female monastery 23km far from Heraklon City, it is believed that it took its name from an older monastery which was built there, that of Agios Savas.
It is found above Rogdia village. It was founded in the late years of Venetian rule. One of its Abbots was the well known scholar and important intellectual, Maximos Margounios.
Those of the monks that took part in the defense of besieged Chandax were slaughtered, or were transported as captives to Constantinople. In the monastery there are the graves of the of Kokkinidi family fighters.
