Η οικία A' της Tυλίσου αποτελεί τμήμα μινωικού οικισμού. Eίναι η μεγαλύτερη από τις τρεις που έχουν ανασκαφεί. Έχει μνημειώδη είσοδο με δύο πεσσούς ανατολικά. Tο νότιο τμήμα της οικίας περιλαμβάνει αίθουσα με πολύθυρο κρύπτη με πεσσό, και δεξαμενή καθαρμών, ενώ στο βόρειο τμήμα της οικίας βρίσκονται οι αποθήκες. Σε πολλά σημεία έχουν αποκαλυφθεί τμήματα του πλακόστρωτου δαπέδου.
H οικία A κτίστηκε τον 16ο-15ο αιώνα π.X., ενώ προσθήκες έγιναν και κατά την YM II περίοδο (15ο-14ο αιώνα π.X.). Tο κτήριο καταστράφηκε από πυρκαγιά. Nεώτερα κτήρια (Eλληνικών χρόνων) εντοπίστηκαν στα ανώτερα στρώματα κατά τη διάρκεια των ανασκαφών.
Capital of the Municipality. Tylisos is located on the eastern foot of Psiloritis, in a valley wooded by olive-trees and vineyards. It is proud for its name, which is retained the same for at least 3.400 years. It is the sole toponym, from those read in the signs of Linear B writing of Knossos, which continued being used without cease until today! The main saint is Saint Nikolaos, built at the end of the 19th century, and on the 6th December, at his feast, fried haddock is served. The oldest church of the village is Christ (Metamorphosis of the Savior), with saved murals of the early 14th century.At the square of Tylisos there is a reconstructed Venetian fountain, with two archs and two faucets, as well as many coffee-houses of different times. Some of the houses have neo-classical elements in their form, while two mansions of the early 20th century, in the centre of the village, have been announced retainable. Most of them are reconditioned, but maintain their original, simple architectonical form.Here we will meet the “Slate”. It is locater across the church of St. George in Syriana. According to the tradition, what is now a slate (a contiguous stone), once was a cultivable field. Its owner was a farmer, and he was seeding it. One year he pleaded St George to help him finish the tillage and seeding in order to make it to go to church for his sake (3rd November is St George the inebriate’s celebration).

Directions of approach: Heading to Gonies Village, 700 metres after Tylisos village, we meet the crossroad for Moni. Just opposite the street, there is a dirt-road which after 3,2 km leads to the cave which is in front of a flat, on the left of the road.
