Πλατύς Γιαλός

Η Μυγοσπηλιά ή Καμμένη Σπηλιά.
Βρίσκεται στο μέσο της βόρειας ακτής της Τήνου, αρκετά χιλιόμετρα βορειοδυτικά του χωριού Αετοφωλιά, όπου υψώνεται ο ορεινός όγκος Καστέλλα- Καλανίστα. Έχει μήκος 55 μ. περίπου και η είσοδος της ανοίγεται προς την ακτή και σε αρκετό ύψος από την επιφάνεια της θάλασσας. Έχει δύο εισόδους: μια ευρεία προς το επάνω μέρος και μια στενή, χαμηλότερα. Μόνον έρποντας μπορεί κανείς να εισέλθει. Στο εσωτερικό της υπάρχουν πολλά οστά, γυναικοπαίδων κυρίως, καθώς και σμήνη από πράσινες μικρές μύγες και απειράριθμα μυρμήγκια. Και αυτό παρουσιάζει έντονο γεωλογικό, ιστορικό και εντομολογικό ενδιαφέρον.

The cape of Kolimpithra (20km northern of the town of Tinos) consists of five beaches. The best known are Megali Kolimpithra and Mikri Kolimpithra.

The rough winding conditions on the area of Megali Kolimpithra, makes it totally unsuitable for swimming. The beach of Mikri Kolimpithra is considered one of the visitors’ favorite since it is organized with umbrellas, sun beds and beach volley facilities. There are many restaurants, hotels and the camp of Leontios.  The other three beaches Mantroklisi, Apothikes and Palio Agio Filakto are rather small, sandy and wind-sheltered. They are ideal for those of you who crave for relaxation.

The bay of Kolimpithra is a natural sea basin and a declared wetland where rare species of birds, turtles and other animals live. In the middle of the bay we can see Drakonisi.

The settlement of Aetofolia is built on the skirts of a mountain, just 1km away from the village of Kalloni. It is typical of the fine traditional Cycladic architecture. You can visit the church of Agios Ioannis, the Folkloric Museum and the pottery and ceramic workshops.
