Kalivos village, the seat and the only village of Kalivos municipal district, is found at an altitude of 560m.
The name is the superlative of the word kalivi (hut). The village is recorded by Barozzi, Kastrofilakas and Basilicata during Venetian rule. It is also mentioned at the Turkish census of 1671. In 1920 it constitutes seat of the homonymus rural municipality.
The village is found at an altitude of 430m. It took its name from the homonymus church of Agios Ioannis Hrisostomos, which is dated from the 12th century, the oldest of former Milopotamos Province.
According to the oral tradition it was formerly a catholic church. delivery reports that it was first catholic church. Agios Ioannis Hrisostomos has been restored in 1568.
