Το Μουσείο Εθνικής Αντίστασης βρίσκεται στο χωριό Θέρισο και σε αυτό εκτίθεται πλούσιο φωτογραφικό υλικό από την περίοδο της Εθνικής Αντίστασης του 1941-1945. Στο Μουσείο υπάρχουν, όπλα και κειμήλια αγωνιστών καθώς και διάφορα αντικείμενα και αποκόμματα εφημερίδων εκείνη της περιόδου.

Είναι το μοναδικό μουσείο στο είδος του στην Κρήτη και μεταξύ των στόχων του είναι η καταγραφή, μελέτη, προβολή και διατήρηση της ιστορικής μνήμης της Κρητικής Εθνικής Αντίστασης κατά τη διάρκεια της περιόδου 1941-1945. Το Μουσείο εγκαινιάστηκε το καλοκαίρι του 2003.

It is the nearest gorge to the city of Chania and the only gorge that a visitor can drive through by car or other transportation means, since it is crossed by a carriageway leading to the gorge from Chania via the suburb of the city of Perivolia. The main portion of the gorge is 6 km long. The imposing precipitous rocky slopes and the very luxuriant flora have no cause to be jealous of the bigger gorges of Chania. 

The Gorge of Therisso, even if visited by car, and the beauty of the village of Therisso, built at the foot of the White Mountains at an altitude of 580 m and only 15 km distant from Chania, will remain unforgettable to the visitor.

The great politician and later Prime Minister of Greece, Eleftherios Venizelos, born in Chania at the beginning of the previous century, actualised the Cretan Revolution from the village of Therisso in order to unite the island of Crete and the rest of Greece, after four hundred years of slavery under the Turks.

Theriso (Greek: Θέρισο) is a town and municipality in the west of the island of Crete, Greece. It is part of the Kydonia province which covers the central part of Chania Prefecture.The town of Theriso is located to the south of Chania at the top of the Theriso gorge. The 14 km drive up the gorge is considered spectacular and is popular with Chania residents for the cooler temperatures and grill restaurants of the village. Theriso is a historic village and the birthplace of the mother of Eleftherios Venizelos. In 1905, Venizelos organised the Revolutionary Assembly in the village that ousted Prince George of Greece and precipitated the independence of Crete and its union with Greece (see Theriso revolt).The municipality of Theriso extends from the outer suburbs of Chania, principally Perivolia and the village and agricultural prison at Agia, up the gorge beyond Theriso itself into the White Mountains (Lefka Ori). The head town of the municipality is Vamvakopoulo by Chania. The municipality also includes Theriso, Agia and Varipetro.

Ιστορικό και Λαογραφικό Μουσείο Θερίσου
Το Μουσείο αυτό ιδρύθηκε το 1985 και βρίσκεται στο κτίριο που χρησίμευε ως στρατηγείο για τον Ελευθέριο Βενιζέλο. Το μουσείο φιλοξενεί αντικείμενα εκείνης τη εποχής, αρχεία και φωτογραφικό υλικό, οπλισμό, όπως επίσης και προσωπικά αντικείμενα του Ελευθερίου Βενιζέλου.
