Σε μια από τις πλέον απομονωμένες περιοχές των Ανατολικών Αστερουσίων Όρεων, στο νομό Ηρακλείου βρίσκεται φωλιασμένη ανάμεσα σε πανύψηλους βράχους μια από τις ομορφότερες παραλίες της χώρας. Οι Ασπες.
Πρόκειται για μια υπέροχη παραλία με γαλαζοπράσινα νερά και μαύρο χαλικάκι καθώς και σπηλιές, στις οποίες εισχωρεί η θάλασσα.
Ο πανύψηλος βράχος ακριβώς από πάνω της προστατεύει την παραλία από τον ήλιο, ενώ οι επισκέπτες της μπορούν να κολυμπήσουν και μέσα στις σπηλιές που δημιουργούνται από τα «κοψίματα» στους βράχους. Μάλιστα, οι σχισμές έχουν τέτοιο σχήμα που μοιάζουν σμιλεμένες από ανθρώπινο χέρι.
Η πρόσβαση γίνεται αποκλειστικά από θαλάσσης μιας και βρίσκεται σε μια από τις πιο απομονωμένες και δύσβατες περιοχές των Αστερουσίων Ορεων και αποτελεί ίσως την ωραιότερη παραλία του Νομού Ηρακλείου.
Το κοντινότερο λιμανάκι είναι αυτό στις Τρεις Εκκλησιές που βρίσκεται 4 χλμ. περίπου δυτικότερα.

The village of Ahentrias is in the County of Asteroussia Municipality by Monofatsi area, with a population of 367, situated on an altitude of 680 m., 12 klm. South East of Pirgos by Messara Plain. People are mainly cattle breeders aand shepherds and their products are much in demand and very famous on the island.
The Prefecture of Monofatsi is first recorded in a census by Barozzi in 1577. The most important religious feast of the village is the Transfiguration day of Christ on August 6. Also it is worthwhile visiting the Byzantine church of Saint Dimitrios.
The small and hidden by the Asterousia mountains, the mountain range along the southern coast of Crete. White Beach is located between Tris Ekklisies Village and Agios Nikitas Monastery-Beach (by Tsoutsiuros area). To reach the beach you have to do it by boat because the area is very wild and there is no road which aprroaches the beach.
The area is absolutely secluded and ideal for fishing. It is 6km east of Tris Ekklisies Village and Tries Ekklisies beach, at the southern slopes of Asterousia mountains in Heraklion prefecture and 61 km far from Heraklion city.

Petrigiari or Kakopetros beach is a small beach at the exit of a small but impressive and complitely unknown gorge. The gorge defines the southern edge of Asterousia mountains and creates a picture of striking beauty, especially when you approach this remote region by boat.
Situated at the southern side of the Asterousia mountains with a distance of more than 75 kilometres far from Heraklion and some 20 kilometres far from Tsoutsouros and 2,5 km from Maridaki beach-village.
There is no dirt road or any other way of access, rather than by boat from the Tsoutsouros area or the Tris Ekklisies village (Three Churches) in the west. This small beach of no more than 30 meters long, is equally impressive and the whole image creates a feeling of total isolation in which the natural beauties speak for themselves in the eyes and hearts of visitors.

Οι φοίνικες είναι του είδους Phoenix theophrasti, όπως και στο Βάι. Πιθανότατα το φοινικόδασος δημιουργήθηκε από τους πειρατές οι οποίοι έρχονταν για να προμηθευθούν νερό από την πηγή που υπάρχει εδώ. Έτρωγαν του χουρμάδες που είχαν μαζί τους και πετούσαν τους σπόρους που δημιούργησαν το φοινικόδασος.
