Vatalos is a relatively big and quiet sandy beach close to Fragokastelo beach and between Sfakia and Frangokastello, south west Crete.
It is located 1km east of Frangokastelo beach, 11km west from Chora Sfakion, Chania Prefecturein west Crete. The beach is no orginized.

Frangokastello (the castle of the Franks: this Castle was built in 1371, during the four and a half centuries of Venetian rule) is a charming, peaceful and traditional village on the south coast of Crete, 12km east from Chora Sfakion and 20km west of Plakias, and offers splendid sandy beaches. The water is getting deepen very slowly, so this is the ideal spot for parents to let their children play in the sea. Even 50 meters outside in the sea the water is only knee deep.
Frangokastello is 75 kilometers from
Chania
airport and 150 kilometers from Heraklion airport. An ideal spot for a relaxing family holiday, far away from mass tourism. Frangokastello has about 20 restaurants and tavernas, in and around the village. There are shops, and minimarkets for your shopping.
This beach has beautiful white pinkish sand and has very shallow and clear waters and is ideal for families with children. Well organised, it offers accommodation facilities, food and drink and facilities for swimming and sunbathing (sun beds, umbrellas).
