Agios Nikitas Monastery. 19906 hits
Agios Nikitas, one of the many monasteries of Crete a little to the west of Maridaki. Accessible by boat from Tsoutsouros Village or by car from Ahedrias mountain Village. Located at the south side of the Asterousia Mountains, 86 km south from Heraklion City.

There is a nice beach close to the monastery and an interesting palm tree wood 1km western, fortunately still unknown to big crowds. You will love the area only if you are fan of isolation, of natural environment and...of the palm trees.

Agios Nikitas 3040 hits
Situated at the southern side of the Asterousia mountains with a distance of more than 85 kilometres far from Heraklion at the South - Southeast and some 20 kilometres far from Tsoutsouros and 15 km from Maridaki beach-village, Aghios Nikitas is a pebbly beach affected by the winds; what is interesting is the palm tree wood, fortunately still unknown to big crowds.  Not organised at all , it does not offer any accommodation or food and drink facilities; you will love the beach only if you are fan of isolation, of natural environment and...of the palm trees.Access from Heraklion is possible only by rented or private cars and motorbikes through a not asphalted roadway from Tsoutsouros. Driving from Maridaki, you will find the beach after you have passed the Monastery of Aghios Nikitas.
