Meronas village: If we take the road on the right, we can visit the villages Meronas with a wonderful view, waters and wall-painted churches of the 14th and 15th century Meronas is built at an altitude of 600m in a lushly green area with an exquisite view towards the Amari valley.
The village has beautiful lanes, fountains and numerous churches. The most famous of these, the one best expressing the Byzantine heritage of Meronas, is the three-aisle church of Panaghia, in the village center. It is a building dating from the 14th century and is decorated with beautiful frescoes.
Also important is the church of Aghios Nicolaos, dating from the 13th century, to the south of the village. Meronas has abundant cultural activity; however the satiric carnival events are most noteworthy; as they attract large crowds from all over the Prefecture.
