Garazo is found in an altitude of 270m, south of Kouloukonas Mountain in Milopotamos area and Rethimno Prefecture.

Its strengthened position provided safety to the leaders of the Cretan Revolutions, which were assembled there many times in order to take important decisions.

The monastery Vosakou owed a Metochi (small settlement) and a lot of property of the village.

This Metochi was located either around the old church of Agia Kiriaki, which was demolished recently (1970) and rebuilt to its current form, or around the church of Kimisis of Theotokos, which is also inside the village.

Garazo is a green village, seat of the municipality and first in the production of citron in the Mylopotamo region. The Feast of Citron that is organised each summer is always a big success.
