Drosia, of Chonos municipal district, is located at an altitude of 300m above sea level in the all green valley of Milopotamos Province, in Kouloukonas mountains, by Rethimno prefecture.
In the place of the current settlement, a Turk had opened a cafe for the service of the passers by. Thus the old name of Drosia was Geni Gkave (= new cafe).

Aimonas village is located between Drosia and Axos Village, by Milopotamos area, Rethymno Prefecture.
It is reported for the first time in the Venetian archives of 1577 by Barozzi, and later, by Kastrofilaka and Basilicata. According to Stavrinidis, a Greek researcher, the name of the village comes from the shortening of Ai (Pantelei)monas the name of the patron of the village church.
Others believe that it originates from another Saint or even from the name of the first settlers, as it is the custom in many Cretan villages. During 1970 archaic tablets and figurines of goddesses were discovered in the region testifying that the area was inhabited long time ago.
