Panagia Vrysiotissa
Panagia Vrysiotissa (Our Lady of Vrysi) is one of the most importants catholic shrines in the island.
The church of Panagia Vrysiou is situated in a beautiful coastal site, 4km away from the village Tarampados. It is an important religious centre for the Greek Catholics. The church was erected in the 17th century when the miraculous icon of Panagia Vrefokratousa (the Virgin Mary and the Infant) was found. In the 19th century it was restored in its present form. The church hosts a copy of the icon. The authentic icon is safely kept in the church of Tarampados and is transferred to the church Panagia Vrysiou on August 15 and the first Sunday of May, when festivals take place.
The beach of Agios Romanos with the homonymous chapel is situated in the southern part of the island. The beach is long sandy with pebbles and has an amazing view of the island of Syros. Agios Romanos is not an organized beach and is reachable only by a descending path. At the end of the beach there is a small port and a local tavern.
