Rapaniana belongs to the Municipality of Kolymbari or Kolimbari, 20km west of Chania. It is situated 25 minutes away from the airport of Chania, 20 minutes away from the harbour of Souda and close to the Rodopou Peninsula.The location is ideal for those that wish to enjoy tranquil holidays by the sea.
On the old road between Chania and Kisamos there are a lot of small villages and sometimes only a road sign will tell you that you have left the first village and immediately entered the next one. Rapaniana seems reasonably quiet and the village has a sand beach and a nice yellow colored church. The old houses that have often fallen to pieces make a strange contrast with the churches of the village that are in tiptop condition. There are also some accommodations for visitors.

Rapaniana beach is a long beach by Rapaniana village, who extends from Kolimbari beach (west) to Tavronitis beach to east. The distance from Maleme beach-village is 3 km and from Chania city 21km.
