Αλμυρός
The magnificent beach of Almiros is situated 2 km south of Agios Nikolaos town, on the road to Sitia-Ierapetra. The whole area is full of reeds and eucalyptus, which grow in water sources.
There you can enjoy swimming and the rich flora and fauna of the region. Almiros is one of the most important wetlands in Greece.

Δίπλα στην παραλία του Αλμυρού στον Άγιο Νικόλαο υπάρχει ο προστατευόμενος υδροβιότοπος που σχηματίζεται στο δέλτα του ποταμού, ο οποίος φιλοξενεί πολλά σπάνια πουλιά. Η περιοχή είναι γεμάτη πανύψηλους ευκαλύπτους, καλαμιώνες και φοίνικες του Θεόφραστου.
Οι σκάλες της πόλης είναι αρκετά ενδιαφέρουσες. Καθώς η πόλη είναι κτισμένη σε λόφους οι σκάλες είναι χαρακτηριστικό γνώρισμα της, με αρκετους αρχιτέκτονες της περιοχής να έχουν σχεδιάσει από μια.
Amoudara is a relatively small beach situated 5 km to the south of Agios Nikolaos town, on the road to Sitia-Ierapetra. It is actually a bay and therefore not affected by the summer winds that blow so often on the Greek islands. Both the seashore and the seafloor are sandy and the waters are clear. Ammoudara beach is amongst the most crowded beaches in Lassithi because it is well-organized with sunbeds, umbrellas, seaside accomodation options and delicious taverns.
